Week of Nov. 8-12

MONDAY, NOV. 8

READING

Ages 7-14: One Word, Nine Animals

Vocabulary gets more complex as you move up the grades. It's good to have practice decoding long, multisyllable words. Here's a fun exercise in which one long word contains the names of nine animals. You might think about splitting up kids into teams and seeing which team can list all nine first!

Keeping your columns straight is a tough challenge for many students. It's easy to make mistakes in addition, subtraction, multiplication and division if a number simply slips out of place, or your columns slant too far out of vertical. So try this simple solution: graph paper!
