Flowers With Flash

 

Today's Snack: Since we're going to be working with flowers, let's make radish roses! Cut both ends of a radish, and then slit four "flaps" in one end. Go just about 7/8 of the way to the end so that each "flap" doesn't fall off, but the slit will still be somewhat separate from the body of the radish. Now plunge the radishes into water with ice cubes for 10 or 15 minutes. When you take them out, they should be cold, crispy and the flaps should curl outward like a red, red rose!
